Ephesians 4:19-20

Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more. You, however, did not come to know Christ that way.

(v19-20, NIV)

Paul was just explaining how the Gentiles live. They live in the futility of their minds. They do not understand God and are separated from him. This is all because of their hard hearts. They see before them the choices they can make as Pharaoh did. However, between choosing to follow God's advice and man's sinful advice, pharaoh did not choose wisely. In the same way, when people have a hard heart, they harden their heart to the wisdom God leads us to. They have even become callous to sinfulness and continue to indulge in sinful deeds. Paul even says that they are greedy to do those things. Greed in itself is wrong, but they are even greedy towards impurity. They have a desire to continue doing more and more sinful deeds. So, the question is whether you are increasing in your committing of sins, or are you decreasing? In the process of sanctification, are you putting off your old self and putting on your new self? The work of the Holy Spirit within you because of the power of the cross is mighty. Do not continue to increase in your indulging of impurity. This is not how we came to know Christ! So, if you live like this but think you have come to know Christ, then you are not living in the way in which you came to know Christ. In fact, maybe you do not know Christ.
