God is the one who does the showing off. We don't show off. If perhaps we were not saved by grace, but by our own doing somehow, then maybe we'd have something to boast about in ourselves. However, that is not the case. We are saved by grace, through faith. The faith is in Jesus Christ.
The saving work is a gift. You don't work or merit it. It's not like you pay for a gift, but it is given. If you offer to pay for a gift, it might be a terribly rude act towards the giver. It is a gift and it is free. We are saved by grace.
