1 Timothy 5:9-16

There's more to being a widow than simply being widowed. Rather, there is an age requirement and a reputation requirement. The age requirement is because younger widows may be compelled by their passions to marry even though they may have already decided to enroll in the church as a widow. In addition, certain people who are not truly widows may learn to be idlers, gossiping and busybodying. Yet again, Paul reminds them that if widows have relatives, their relatives should take care of them.
