Acts 3

So in this chapter, Peter is with John and he sees a man who is lame. I heard a joke from a sermon by James MacDonald about this passage. This man who was lame asked for alms, but he got legs. Asking for alms is like asking for charity or begging for money. But instead, Peter heals him and he responds with joy and gladness. Afterwards, it says that the man who was lame was clinging to Peter and John. I guess he was so overjoyed that he wouldn't even let go of those who healed him. Other people see this happen and are amazed, so Peter addresses the crowd. He immediately gives God the glory, explaining that it is not by their power but by God that this man was healed. Most of these people must have been Jews, since Peter appeals to them by referring to Moses and how Jesus Christ was foretold. It's as if he can't help but take advantage of this great opportunity to tell a whole bunch of people about Jesus.
