There arose a disagreement between Paul and Barnabas because of John Mark. Barnabas wants to take with them John Mark, but Paul disagrees because John Mark left them before. After this disagreement, they separate. Barnabas takes John Mark with him to Cyprus and Paul takes Silas with him through Syria and Cilicia.

Acts 15
Men from Judea came and began teaching some of the followers of Jesus that salvation only comes to those who have been circumcised. Paul and Barnabas are sure to start up debate with these people because this is clearly wrong. At Jerusalem, believers belonging to the party of the Pharisees also say that circumcision is necessary for salvation. The apostles and elders gather to discuss this matter and Peter rises to speak against this idea that circumcision is necessary for salvation. Then, Paul and Barnabas share their experiences with the Gentiles and how God has been working through them. James has the last word, agreeing with Peter, Paul and Barnabas and suggesting that they send a letter of encouragement to the Gentiles, instructing them to keep from things like idolatry and sexual immorality. The letter is sent by Paul, Barnabas, Silas and Barsabbas who take it to Antioch. They receive it with joy, and Silas and Barsabbas return. However, Paul and Barnabas remain in Antioch to continue God's work there.
