Titus 1:10

What is the point of these standards for overseers and elders? They are needed because of the existence of people who are quite the opposite of them. If everyone were like elders or overseers, perhaps Paul wouldn't need to make it a point to specify their requirements. Perhaps leaders would still need to be appointed for organization and structure. However, the fact that some are insubordinate and deceivers means that the overseers must be above reproach and hold fast to the trustworthy word as taught.
