Psalms 51:14b

Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,

you who are God my Savior,

and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.

(v14, NIV)

God is the one who delivers. He is the savior. David needs saving and deliverance from the guilt of bloodshed. He is perhaps so overwhelmed by the weight of his sin. God is the one who saves and the deliverer. When he is delivered, David will sing of God's righteousness. God certainly is righteous. Especially when you compare the two you can see how unrighteous David is and how righteous God is. However, how is God righteous if he delivers David? Certainly we read in the bible about how one who justifies the wicked is an abomination. If God saves David, is he an abomination to himself? How can God even do such a thing? Certainly this is shown and answered in the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross; though at the same time, the gospel is never really fully understood. It is such a wealth of truth that is so great. It remains that David will sing of God's righteousness. This certainly makes sense because those who are saved may show gratitude and praise to their savior. This makes me think of how we show our gratitude to God. Are you saved and have you been delivered by God our savior? If you are, do you show your gratitude?
