James 4:2-3

Your desires are at war within you. When desires are not fulfilled, a person resorts to sinful means to get what they want. Murder and covetousness are brought forth. They try to take these things wrongfully. However, James plainly says that they do not have what they desire because they do not ask. It's quite silly, because they fight and quarrel over things that they could receive if they only asked. Now, some may argue that they asked but they didn't get what they asked for. In response to this, James tells them that they didn't ask correctly. Their error is that they ask for things to spend it on their passions. There is a problem with their intentions, and this is why they do not receive what they ask for.
