praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.Ephesians 6:18-20
Though, it can be seen that the sword of the spirit is the only offensive part of the armor of God described here in Ephesians 6, some have argued that it is only one of two offensive parts of the armor of God. They say that prayer, described here in verse 18, is the second offensive part of the armor of God. Whether or not you agree, we still recognize what Paul is saying to his readers. The instruction is to pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. The instruction is to pray, and the amount (or consistency) is described as "all times". I certainly don't do this, but it's a goal to strive for. Paul says elsewhere "pray without ceasing". Does this mean that we, as believers, are to be in constant prayer? If so, how do we do this? What's interesting is that Paul doesn't really explain how. We are only told what to do. So, let's do it.
Paul continues to encourage his readers, "keep alert with all perseverance". Keep going, keep it up, and don't give up. He's still referring to prayer, and he encourages to make prayers for all the saints. Pray always, and don't forget to pray for all the believers. Not just for yourself, but for other believers.
Lastly, pray for Paul himself. Specifically, he asks for God given words for him to speak. He wants to boldly proclaim the gospel and he wants to say it right as he should.
So, let us pray.
