Not only does the devil flee from us when we resist him, but God will draw near to us when we draw near to him. Sometimes when we draw near to people, they don't draw near to us. You may want to become good friends with this one person, but they may not share the same desire. This may be more obvious for the case of a guy asking out a girl and she rejects him. Fortunately, when we draw near to God, he will draw near to us.
