James 4:11-12
It seems as if those who judge others are those who want to be a lawgiver. James, speaking against those who judge others, responds to those who judge by saying that God is the only lawgiver. So, those who judge others are trying to be lawgivers themselves. It's as if they are specifying and criticizing other people's lives through their interpretation of the law, pronouncing laws on them. Do not do this, for God is the only lawgiver. More importantly, he is the one who is able to save or destroy you, not this random person who judges you.
