Romans 2:29b

No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man's praise is not from men, but from God.

(v29, NIV)

There is one last thing to mention before moving on to chapter 3. I guess it was already mentioned, but I guess it's time to tackle it today. This is the aspect of praise from God and not from men. It was mentioned earlier and this ties into the rest of the passage. It is important to note that we do not seek the praise of man, but the praise from God. The Jewish hypocrites who had the law but not the Spirit were seekers of the praise of men. However, why do we wish to please or appeal to men so that they would praise us? It doesn't matter what they think. What matters is what God thinks. It may be that men praise us at the same time that God praises us. However, most importantly, it is simply what God thinks and not what men think. Seek after his praise and not solely the praise of men.
