Romans 2:23-24

You who brag about the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law? As it is written: "God's name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you."

(v23-24, NIV)

Clearly hypocrisy is wrong. Simply put, they are bragging about the law that they hold so dear to them, but they at the same time break the law. What's sad is what's written in verse 24. This quote that Paul uses is from Isaiah 52:5 and also in Ezekiel 36:22. It is because of these hypocrites that God's name is blasphemed. The Gentiles look at the hypocritical Jews and because of their hypocrisy, God's name is blasphemed. This is evident in our lives all the time and I hate seeing the results. We see people who have such a perverted view of Christianity which makes them want nothing to do with Christians or Christianity. The problem is that people are hypocrites and live differently from what they preach. Dare you blaspheme the name of God because of your actions? Be cautious as to how you live and conduct yourself, lest the name of God be blasphemed because of you.
